According to the abstract posted by the World Intellectual Property Organization: "A method, device and system for running an internet protocol television service system is disclosed, which resolves the problem of poor service quality caused by using a cold backup electronic program guide (EPG) server or transferring users to other EPG servers. The method includes: a backup EPG server receives an acquiring indication message, which indicates the service information of the failure existing network EPG server acquired by the backup EPG server, transmitted by the main control terminal of a service control point; the backup EPG server acquires the service information of the failure existing network EPG server according to the acquiring indication message, and transmits an acquiring response message to the main control terminal of the service control point after completing the acquiring. The technical solutions provided are used for the interactive internet protocol television (IPTV)."
