Qld: Mass rescues on busy beach day
More than 100 swimmers have been pulled from the surf as flash rips and dangerous seas
made for a perilous New Years Day on Gold Coast beaches.
In one mass rescue off Surfers Paradise, 14 people were pulled from a powerful rip
to safety this afternoon by lifesavers working with tubes, boards and jet skis.
Sun worshipers and big wave riders found relief by the sea on the first of the year
as temperatures in Queensland simmered into the mid 40s …
